The golden boy, La-Marko Cobban

Written by on March 25, 2019

La-Marko Cobban from Highgate Primary School in St Mary is already creating waves at six years old.

He is the recent recipient of two individual gold medals and one silver medal in the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC) music and speech parish finals.

La-Marko also copped a group gold medal for music in the parish leg of the competition. He played his favourite instrument – the drum, and is the youngest member of the said group.

La-Marko, with three gold pieces, will represent St Mary at the JCDC national finals in April.

He is a humble child who is always willing and full of life, said his mother Lamuir Morrison, who further noted that La-Marko is good at athletics.

“La-Marko is a shining star for his school and community,” Morrison told The Beacon. “I am really proud of my only child. I expect great things from him as he is well-rounded and is a brilliant little boy who does exceptionally well in his school work.”

La-Marko, who wants to become a doctor or pilot, is also an aspiring band member.
