New judge for X Factor UK on Sunday

Music legend Nile Rodgers will reportedly sit in for X Factor UK judge Robbie Williams as this season’s live shows hit the airwaves this weekend.
According to reports, Williams was unable to get out of contractual obligations and will be performing in South America when the results show airs on Sunday. He will however be in his familiar spot on Saturday for the second of the season’s live shows before flying out for Chile where he has a concert. Williams is also said to have tour dates booked for November 10 and 17, but it is not clear if Rodgers will be invited to sit in for him on these dates.
This season features Jamaican Dalton Harris, who continues to wow judges and audience alike with each performance. Last Saturday Harris performed his rendition of Whitney Houston’s I Have Nothing, from the soundtrack of the movie The Bodyguard, to rave reviews. His studio recording of the song topped the show’s downloads as he maintained a spot on the iTunes Top 100 singles chart in the UK. Only one other contestant, Anthony Russell, from X Factor UK was able to crack the top 100 while Harris peaked at number 27.
The Clarendon-born singer was the 2010 winner of the local televised talent search Digicel Rising Stars.
This is not the first time that Harris and the two other members of the Boys Team left in the competition will perform before Rodgers. The former frontman of the 1970s disco outfit Chic, previously appeared on this year’s series at the judges’ house stage early in the competition. Rodgers along with boys Team mentor and coach Louis Tomlinson helped to decide the final four members of that team during the segment which was filmed in Ibiza — an island off the coast of Spain in the Mediterranean Sea which is well known for its lively nightlife. For that performance Harris executed his rendition of Beyonce’s Listen, from the 2006 movie Dreamgirls.
There are currently 12 acts remaining in the competition following last weekend’s shows when Janice Robinson from The Overs Team and LMA Choir from The Groups were sent home. Harris was among the first to be declared safe during Sunday’s results show.
Television Jamaica has acquired the rights to the show locally and broadcasts both shows live. The performance show is aired on Saturday afternoon at 2:30, while the results show airs 24 hours later on Sunday starting at 3:00 pm.
It is further reported that this weekend’s theme for the performances is Halloween and there will be performances from guests, One Direction’s Liam Payne and former X Factor winner James Arthur.
