VYBZ Kartel is back at the Tower Street Adult Correction Centre (formerly General Penitentary) in Kingston after being discharged from The University Hospital of the West Indies in St Andrew on the weekend.
The deejay’s attorney, Tom Tavares-Finson, confirmed the development to the Jamaica Observer yesterday.
“He went back to the institution over the weekend as the doctors are satisfied with the progress he’s made and they will continue to treat him at the General Penitentary,” he told the Observer.
The deejay was admitted to the Corporate Area hospital, under heavy security, last Monday after complaining about excruciating pain associated with his kidneys.
Vybz Kartel (given name Adidja Palmer) is serving a life sentence in the Tower Street Adult Correctional Centre following his murder conviction in relation to the death of Clive “Lizard” Williams in April 2014. He will be eligible for parole after 35 years.
Kartel’s co-accused, Shawn “Shawn Storm” Campbell and Kahira Jones, are to serve 25 years before they are eligible for parole, while Andre St John will do 30 years before qualifying for eligibility.
Despite being incarcerated, the deejay’s music continues to be in high demand.
